Anna was born in coastal Santa Cruz, raised near Fresno, and educated in Silicon Valley. Prior to becoming a full-time artist, Anna worked as a computer engineer, including 12 years in the DreamWorks Animation R&D department. She plays French horn in community orchestras, and her love of technology and rhythm inform all her projects. She lives in South Reno with her husband and a very opinionated cat, The Biscuit.
Artist's statement
I’m a lens-based artist with an interest in subcultures, archives and data. Through documentary photography and film, I explore community in time. When a group becomes important to me, I return to photograph it repeatedly, often for several years, getting to know its people, economics, architecture and history. As I expand my understanding, I like to form relationships that often lead to further collaboration. I am currently investigating the use of imagery in installation and mixed media.
