Please note access to the housing self-selection process is based on the latest application submission of the roommate group. This means that your priority status or lottery time for room self-selection will be based on the date the last application from your roommate group is received.  Please visit room self-selection  for more information.

• Round 1 - If you apply for housing between November 13, 2024 and February 2, 2025 you will be able to select your roommate or roommate group from January 15-February 2, 2025. 
• Round 2 - If you apply for housing between February 3, 2025 and June 1, 2025 you will be able to select your roommate or roommate group from May 15-June 1, 2025. 

Selecting roommates

To select your roommate(s) during these selection periods please go to the housing portal.

If you and your friend(s) want to room together, you can make a Roommate Group (maximum of 3 individuals). Only one person needs to create the group and give it a name. The creator can invite their friend(s) to join by putting in the name and email of the person/people they want to invite. An email will then be sent out to the invitee(s). Alternatively, individuals can join a group by putting in the group name or using Roommate Group Search to find the group if you know the name.

You can find a roommate by Student ID number or by the roommate’s screen name. 

Looking for a roommate?

If you do not have a specific roommate in mind you can search for a roommate either by profile or by filling out what answers to the roommate matching questions you are looking for in a roommate. You can also go to Suggested Roommates to look at what our system suggests are good matches to you based on your previous roommate matching question answers on the application.

Looking to meet someone new?

If you do not want to find a roommate, you can select a housing assignment and a roommate will be assigned to your room at a later date – either by another student self-selecting the available space or our Assignments Team placing a student in your room.

Room change requests

• Students who have received a housing assignment may tentatively submit a room change request between July 22, 2025 through 11:59 p.m. on July 31, 2025.
• Room change requests will be processed in the order they are received pending availability. It may not be possible to accommodate all requests.

As a reminder, room assignments are based on the preferences you completed on the housing application. Considerable effort is made to honor specific requests and to meet individual needs when making room and roommate assignments. However, heavy demands for University housing sometimes makes it impossible to satisfy all individual requests.
