The unanimous vote to implement a COVID-19 vaccine requirement for spring 2022 semester enrollment took place during an emergency meeting held Friday, Aug. 20

The Nevada State Board of Health unanimously approved COVID-19 vaccine requirements for Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) students at an emergency meeting held Friday, Aug. 20. This will require all students in NSHE institutions to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and to provide proof to be able to enroll when Spring 2022 semester enrollment opens on Nov. 1. This will not impact enrollment this fall in any way. 

“The health and wellbeing of Nevada’s public higher education community and the safe return to in person learning for NSHE’s students, faculty and staff continues to be our highest priority,” Board of Regents Chair Cathy McAdoo and NSHE Chancellor Melody Rose said in a joint statement.

To get vaccinated:

  • Make a vaccine appointment at no cost by contacting the  at 775-784-6598. The Student Health Center continues to offer daily COVID-19 testing by appointment as well.
  • Make a vaccine appointment with the .
  • Text your zip code to 438829 to get three locations near you with vaccines in stock.
  • Use the  from Immunize Nevada.

To complete your vaccination process before enrollment opens on Nov. 1, we strongly recommend you get your first dose (if you are receiving a two dose vaccine) as soon as possible and not later than mid-September.  

More information will be provided soon about the implementation of this policy on our campus, including information about  the limited circumstances under which a waiver may be requested and when such requests may be made.  At this time, we are not yet accepting  waiver requests.
