President of the University, Brian Sandoval, has also participated in the School of Public Health’s TikTok videos and shares his thoughts on the School’s impact on the community:
“Evolution and change in response to new knowledge, new public health challenges and the needs of Nevada has marked what has been an extremely successful story of our School of Public Health. Our School of Public Health – and its precursors throughout our long history as an institution of higher education – has proven to be highly adaptable and responsive in the understanding of the determinants of health and how our University can best provide education, research and training for the betterment of Nevada and its people. As we approach our 150th anniversary, our School of Public Health continues to be a leader in academic collaboration, community outreach and policy, transformational research, and in providing Nevada with the next generation of leaders in a wide variety of public health-related fields.”
The School of Public Health had a humble beginning. Starting as the Department of Recreation and Physical Education (RPED) within the College of Arts and Sciences in 1976, the School of Public Health underwent several departmental and program and name changes, until eventually earning its current name and accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) in 2021.
Dean Muge Akpinar-Elci of the School of Public Health, reflects on the growth of the School and the University, “Our School of Public Health has made significant contributions to our communities with true innovative thinking and we are committed to continue providing an exemplary standard of service and education to our region and we are so grateful to have had the University’s support over the years. We very much look forward to celebrating and reflecting on the many accomplishments by the University. On behalf of the School of Public Health, we wish the 性爱五色天, Reno a very happy birthday, and hope the next 150 years may be as incredible as the first.”
