Staying safe on campus is easier than ever with SafePack, the ÐÔ°®ÎåÉ«Ìì, Reno’s comprehensive mobile safety app. Designed by the University Police Department Northern Command, SafePack provides students, faculty and staff with direct access to vital safety resources in one convenient platform.

“We want to ensure the campus community has quick and easy access to essential safety tools,” said University Police Chief Eric James. “SafePack allows us to stay connected with students and staff, promoting a culture of safety and awareness across the University.” 

Safety features

SafePack offers a range of tools and resources to help ensure safety and preparedness:

  • Campus maps: Navigate the campus with detailed maps.
  • Emergency contacts: Instantly access critical phone numbers for campus and local emergencies.
  • Emergency plans: Stay prepared with step-by-step guidance for various emergencies.
  • Report a tip: Submit anonymous safety tips directly to University Police Department.
  • Connect with campus resources: Access helpful student services available on campus. 
  • Personal safety toolbox: Includes a flashlight, an audible alarm, and practical safety tips.

The app also highlights the locations of emergency “blue light” phones across campus, ensuring help is always nearby in addition to a mobile blue light that can be accessed right on your phone. 

Complementing existing campus safety measures

SafePack is part of a larger, proactive approach to campus safety at the University. Additional safety measures include:

  • Blue light phones: Strategically placed throughout the campus, these phones provide instant access to emergency assistance.
  • Emergency Alert System: Real-time emergency notifications sent via text and email to all students, faculty and staff.
  • Outdoor notification system: Audible tones, alerts or sirens broadcasted across campus during emergencies.
  • PackRides transportation service: Safe transportation options provided by trained student drivers, available free of charge.
  • Self-defense and safety classes: Complimentary classes in self-defense, rape prevention, and personal safety awareness offered throughout the semester.
  • Victim services: Providing resources and rights for students, faculty and staff affected by crime.
