The mission of this interdepartmental graduate program is to provide students with in-depth training in the critical fields of surface and subsurface hydrology.

Faculty in the department advise graduate students in three different graduate programs, each tailored to cover the diversity of graduate training and career goals:

  • Ecology Evolution & Conservation Biology - M.S. & Ph.D.
  • Hydrologic Sciences - M.S. & Ph.D.
  • Natural Resources & Environmental Science - M.S. & Ph.D.

Prior to applying to any of these graduate programs, prospective students should email those departmental faculty that they wish to work with, summarizing their background, research interests and reasons why the particular faculty member is a good fit. Faculty will work with prospective students to determine which of the four graduate programs is best.

Students advised by departmental faculty will generally receive a 2- (M.S. degree) or 4-year (Ph.D. degree) funding commitment to support them during their studies. Funding commitments can include support from both graduate research assistantships and teaching assistantships.

The Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Science is home to a dynamic group of faculty that are actively engaged in cutting-edge research on a diversity of topics in natural resources and environmental science.
