International scholarships and funding
The 性爱五色天, Reno provides a high-quality education at a competitive price with various funding opportunities. Approximately 80 percent of international graduate students receive graduate assistantships from academic departments. Refer to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships for more financial aid information.
Freshmen and continuing undergraduate transfer students
New incoming freshman students who have completed all admissions requirements by February 15 are automatically considered for the new freshman scholarship programs. No separate application required.
To be considered for college and department scholarships, new and continuing undergraduate and graduate students must complete the annual scholarship application in . The scholarship application is available starting October 1 of the prior calendar year and is due February 15 of the calendar year in which the school year begins.
OISS offers scholarships to new and continuing undergraduate students in amounts ranging from $300 - $5,000 per year. Nominations are made based on donor criteria and GPA.
Eligibility
- Any new or continuing F-1 or J-1 student enrolled in a degree-seeking program at the University
- Continuing students who have completed the Graduate and Undergraduate Scholarship (GUS) Application in MyNEVADA between October 1 and February 1 annually
- The GUS application is available until May 31, but scholarship application preference is given to those who complete it by February 1. The GUS application is required to be eligible for scholarships/awards offered by the Office of International Students and Scholars and many other University departments.
- Students who meet the University's Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements
- Undergraduate students with a total cumulative University GPA of at least 2.75
- During the semester(s) of the award, undergraduate students must be enrolled in 15 University credits
- Last semester students may enroll in at least six (s) credits and must have applied for graduation to receive their semester award. Students may be enrolled less than full-time with a Disability Resource Center-approved reduced course load.
- Students may have other scholarships and awards.
International students are not eligible to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) applications. Due to this, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships has created the Institutional Methodology for current Non-FAFSA Eligible Students who have completed one year of study.
International students must complete and submit this form to be considered for need-based scholarships and grants.
For priority consideration, complete and submit the application to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. The priority deadline for consideration is February 1 annually.
Students who qualify for the Pack Exchange Program only pay 200% of the base tuition for Nevada residents.
To qualify, students must meet one of the following requirements:
- Minimum 3.0 weighted academic GPA
- Minimum 22 ACT composite
- Minimum 1100 SAT score
- Only available to international students who graduated from a U.S. high school in the following states/regions: Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, Republic of Palau, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
International graduate students
International students completing a graduate education at the 性爱五色天, Reno have a variety of funding opportunities available to them.
Assistantships are awarded to graduate students. Academic departments make decisions on awarding the graduate assistantships and students should contact the intended academic department directly.
These are awarded to incoming and returning international graduate students. These awards are determined and awarded by the Graduate School and not by OISS.
The Graduate Student Association offers a variety of awards and support programs for graduate students, including spring awards, travel awards, need-based services (e.g., childcare) and more.
