Dr. Maya Warren, The Ice Cream Scientist™, obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Carleton College (Northfield, MN). She holds a Ph.D. in Food Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she specialized in the microstructure, sensory properties and behavioral aspects of frozen aerated desserts. Her passion for ice cream goes beyond academia — Maya has dedicated her life to mastering the science behind this beloved treat while exploring its cultural nuances across the globe.

Maya gained international recognition as part of the winning duo, the #SweetScientists, on the 25th season of the Emmy Award-winning reality show The Amazing Race, alongside her friend and former lab mate, Amy DeJong. As the founder and owner of IC3 CRM CONSULTING LLC, Dr. Maya provides expert consulting in the art and science of frozen desserts. From developing innovative flavors and formulations to optimizing large-scale production processes, she delivers the perfect scoop every time. In addition to her scientific and entrepreneurial endeavors, Maya is an inspiring keynote speaker, sharing her insights and infectious enthusiasm with audiences at schools and organizations worldwide. Her mission? To spread joy — one scoop at a time.

Page Buono, director, writer and producer at Day’s Edge (an award-winning production company that makes documentaries about science and nature) will also present on the importance of creative science storytelling. Page directed Frosty Formulations, as well as writes and produces for the Emmy-nominated PBS series, Human Footprint, and has directed and produced numerous short, educational science films for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation. She was a 2021 Media Lab Fellow at the Jackson Wild Summit, and has her MFA in creative nonfiction from the University of Arizona.
