Meet The Ice Cream Scientistâ„¢ Maya Warren and Film Director Page Buono

In this two-part Discover Science lecture on Thursday, May 1, Dr. Maya Warren shares the inside scoop on how her chemistry background paved the way to becoming an ice cream scientist and science communicator. Then, Page Buono, director of the featured Sci-On! Film Festival short Frosty Formulations, will elaborate on the importance of creative science storytelling. Plus, watch the seven-minute short film and explore the surprising science behind one of the world’s favorite desserts – ice cream!

What is the Discover Science Lecture Series?

The Discover Science Lecture Series was founded by the College of Science in 2010, with the goal of bringing the country's top scientists to the University to share their knowledge, research and wisdom with the community.

Past speakers in the series include astrophysicists Michio Kaku and Neil deGrasse Tyson; Robert Ballard, who discovered the wreck of the Titanic; and Bill Nye the Science Guy.

All Discover Science Lecture Series events are free and open to the public, with a reception following the lecture. Registration is required to attend.
