Dr. Maragakis served as dean of the College of Engineering from 2009 to 2022. During that time, he developed a systematic approach toward creating a pipeline for an advanced engineering workforce.

Training more engineers is a strategic national priority, but a field like engineering cannot do that overnight. We need to develop a pipeline of technologically advanced talent to meet Nevada's need for trained engineers.

Our vision for economic diversification and development is very much related to a well-planned, systematic outreach effort that begins with K-12 programs, continues with a commitment to the academic success of our students and includes close partnerships with industry and employers.

Our K-12 programs focus on building a pipeline of students who arrive at the University academically prepared for and also excited about majors in engineering.

We offer rigorous, state-of-the-art curricula and hands-on research experiences.

We offer a wide range of academic resources, from an academic bootcamp for first-year students to a dedicated engineering tutoring center.
