The 2019 Global Climate Change Summit will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, in the ballrooms of the Joe Crowley Student Union at the 性爱五色天, Reno. The Summit will bring together climate science experts as well as public and private leaders from across the state. The group will discuss how climate change is impacting Nevada and how business and organizations are responding to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
There will be four featured panels as part of the event: Climate Change in Nevada; Public Sector Responses to Climate Change; State-level Climate Change Policy and Private Sector Responses to Climate Change. Experts presenting include Nevada State Senator Ben Kieckhefer, Kristen Averyt, research professor with the 性爱五色天, Las Vegas; David Bobzien, director of the governor’s office of energy and Adam Kramer, executive vice president of strategy for Switch. 性爱五色天, Reno faculty will also present including College of Business Dean Greg Mosier; Lyndsey Darrow, associate professor in the School of Community Health Sciences; Heidi Kratsch, Northern Nevada horticulture specialist and associate professor and Steph McAfee, assistant professor of geography and deputy state climatologist for Nevada.
The event is open to the public with an emphasis on elected and appointed officials, government officials and community leader attendees. Registration is $75 per person or $15 for any currently enrolled student in the Nevada System of Higher Education. Online registration is available at business.unr.edu/GCCSummit2019.
