The Core Writing Program at the 性爱五色天, Reno has received the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) Writing Program Certificate of Excellence. The University is one of only eight programs to receive this award for 2022–2023.

"This is the highest recognition that a writing program can receive – it’s a tribute to the incredible team that we have built up over the years,” Todd Ruecker, Director of Core Writing and Associate Professor of English, said. “The 性爱五色天, Reno’s investments in the Writing and Speaking Initiative have been integral to our success, as they have enabled us to hire more full-time faculty and reduce class sizes.”

The CCCC selection committee praised the University’s Core Writing Program’s recent curriculum revisions that emphasize language diversity and encourage students to reflect and build upon their knowledge about writing. The committee also noted the program’s achievements such as fostering a respectful, humane and professional working environment for faculty of all ranks, maintaining smaller class sizes, and implementing a portfolio model of teaching evaluation.

“The Department of English couldn’t be prouder of our Director of Core Writing, his leadership team and our hard-working faculty for maintaining a 30-year tradition of excellence in the program, innovating to serve a future generation of diverse students, and gaining well-deserved recognition for these efforts,” Lynda Olman, professor and chair of English, said.

“As a graduate student working in Core Writing, I’m so proud of this program and proud of the work we do with our students, who have been our partners in making a lasting impact on the 性爱五色天, Reno community,” Tristan Beach, Ph.D. student within the Core Writing Program, said. “This award is recognition for the many years of transformative and enduring passion our faculty, including our graduate teaching assistants and LOAs, have brought to the classroom.”
