Program highlights: China and Italy

Since we will be welcoming USAC staff from China and Italy, let’s learn a little more about the programs!

Shanghai, China

Once a sleepy fishing town, Shanghai is now the hallmark of China’s booming economy. It is the perfect place to learn about the business environment of East Asia and study Chinese language. Mandarin is the official/standard dialect used in China, and Shanghai is a great place to practice it outside of class. While learning Chinese language and business logistics during the week, participants can take in dozens of art exhibitions, sports competitions, movies, museums, musical events, nightclubs and more. Academic courses are only a part of the value of the program. Participation in field trips, campus activities, and experiencing residential student life on campus also form an integral part of the program.

Reggio Emilia, Italy

Study in Reggio Emilia to learn while enjoying life in a charming mid-sized city in north-central Italy — home of one of the highest qualities of life in Italy and, many say, the country’s best food. With fewer than 200,000 inhabitants and an award-winning university, Reggio Emilia is a perfect location for students looking to immerse themselves in Italian culture away from crowded tourist destinations. This city of Roman origin, where the Italian tricolor flag was born, is rich in history, culture and tradition. It also has a community with strong commitment and interest in the outdoors which can be enjoyed by riding a bike on the city’s 141 kilometers of bike paths or by enjoying some of the city’s 31 parks.
