Academic advising
The School of Social Work offers academic advising to pre-professional and professional sequence students to aid in degree completion, provide resources on campus, and aid in navigating the University system.
First-time freshmen are required to meet with their advisor during their first three semesters. After three semesters, advising is optional though it is recommended that social work students see an advisor once a semester. During these meetings, the advisor and student typically review the student's academic coursework, discuss areas of concern or opportunity, graduation requirements, the scholarship application process, as well as employment and career exploration.
The MSW program leadership team supports prospective and current MSW students by offering in-person and Zoom advising sessions by appointment.
Beyond this, students are encouraged to see their advisor when academic guidance or support is needed.
