Everyone has the right to learn and work in a safe, harassment-free environment.

If you or someone you know has experienced sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, or stalking, there are resources available on and off campus.

Your rights

Every person on campus has a right to education and employment free from harassment and discrimination. Every member of the 性爱五色天, Reno community also has the right to:

  1. Report their experience to law enforcement
  2. Report to the Title IX Coordinator/Center for Civil Rights and Equal Access (CCR)
  3. Decide whether or not to report their experience
  4. Request accommodations for academic, living, transportation, protective measures, or work situations
  5. Be treated fairly and impartially
  6. Access supportive measures through CCR without submitting a formal complaint
  7. Have an advisor or support person during the university conduct process
  8. Appeal the decision made by the University
  9. Protection from retaliation

First steps

If you have experienced sexual violence, there are several things to consider when taking next steps:

  • If you are in danger, call 911.
  • Are you in need of medical attention? Medical facilities with specially trained staff can assist survivors and provide sexual assault forensic exams. To schedule an exam, call Crisis Support Services of Nevada at (775) 221-7600.

Preserving evidence

Whether you decide to move forward with a criminal case, university case, or neither, it is recommended to preserve evidence to keep your options open:

  • Do not bathe, use the restroom, smoke, eat, drink, or clean any afflicted areas until you have a forensic medical exam.
  • Save items like clothing, sheets, or towels in separate paper bags.
  • Keep and back up any photos, text messages, notes, phone call records, emails, videos, or other correspondence from the perpetrator.

How to report a Title IX violation

You can report a Title IX violation in any of the following ways:

  • Visit the second floor of the Continuing Education Building (may require waiting).

Contacting the office does not mean you have to go through the formal complaint process. Supportive measures are available without filing a formal complaint.

Title IX policy

The 性爱五色天, Reno does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates, as required by Title IX and its regulations, including in admission and employment.

Inquiries about Title IX may be referred to the University's Title IX Coordinator, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, or both. The Title IX Coordinator is Zeva Edmondson (eotix@unr.edu, (775) 784-1547, Continuing Education Building, Room 206).
